Every week £1 000 000 worth of plant and agricultural machinery is stolen from all over the UK (Home Office Figures). The theft is low risk to the criminal with little chance of being checked or the plant being examined while it is being moved around the country.
It is estimated that only 5-10% of stolen plant and agricultural machinery is ever restored to its rightful owners.
This course will give the student an extensive knowledge base about the nature and extent of plant theft. Including a comprehensive understanding of rational selection,i.e. What to stop. A full understanding of a preliminary roadside check, i.e. What to look for when you have stopped it. How to recognise fake and altered chassis numbers. How to recognise fraudulent and tampered chassis plates. Understanding paints and primers. Understanding CESAR and the importance that this ACPO accredited scheme can assist you. Other plant databases and the implications of using them. Understanding of chemical and thermal restoration. Accurately ageing a machine on the roadside. Health and Safety - the dangers surrounding plant.

Classroom based with practical inputs.
All equipment will be provided.
Your course tutors will help you with your studies during the course. There is a final written examination and a practical assessment.
