Welcome to the roads policing home page

Introduction

Welcome to the Roads Police section. Here you can access details of all our roads policing courses including auto-crime, vehicle prohibition, tachograph and foundation roads policing skills.

Roads policing skills

We deliver a three week course in Roads Policing Skills either in one block or as three one week modules. The course is mapped at Level 3 and leads to an award by IMI. We also deliver customised courses which are AiTS certificated. Roads policing courses are normally delivered in your workplace.

Tachograph

We offer a full range of tachograph courses from drivers hours to calibration following collision and digital route tracing.

Identification of stolen plant and agricultural machinery

The programme is constantly evolving as technology changes. The programme team meets annually with leading practitioners from the police and Institute of Traffic Accident Investigators to ensure the programme remains fit for purpose.

Identification of vehicles and VIN recovery.

The academic route is not the only way to develop expertise. There are other courses, such as light bulb and tyre examination to name two that collision investigators will undertake.

Examination and Prohibition of Motor Vehicles

Forensic collision is based around maths and physics. There are plenty of practical aspects too. However you cannot get away from the fact that at some stage you are going to have to do a series of mathematical calculations which you incorporate into a report and present to the Court.
