CI101 is a six week distance learning module for those enrolled or about to enroll on the UCPD and who feel that they need to refresh their mathematics. This is outside the scope of the university thus there is no pass mark however some employers use it as part of their interview process.
Passing this module does not meet the entry requirements of the UCPD. For those who are unable to meet the entry requirements, a seperate maths examination is available (see the UCPD pages)
There is no charge for this course.
Arithmetic, algebra, geometry and trigonometry in the areas relevant to the UCPD.
This module assumes that you have studied mathematics in the past attaining a GCSE pass or equivalent.
On demand module studied on line
You will need a scientific calculator, a computer and access to the internet and some form of headphones or earphones. We recommend any Casio calculator with a 'Natural Display'.
We also recomend studying the OU book Maths for Science. Maths for Science can be purchased from Amazon and other sellers, second hand copies are usually available for under £10.
This is an On line course run from our VLE. The course is designed for you to study from home or the workplace. There are a number of recorded tutorial. At the end of the course you can log onto and take the Online assessment. This assessment can only be taken once and is time constrained.
